DIY Egg Carton Centerpiece

DIY's· Uncategorized

3 Sep
Most of my DIYs and encourage you to take the “ordinary” to make “extraordinary”! This is exactly what we’re going to do with this DIY. You will need paper egg carton, scissors, modge podge, kids paint from Dollar Tree color classic, and glue gun. This is for making the outer shell of the acorn.

To embellish it you will need some materials. Materials to embellish it with is your choice. I chose what’s in the picture.

Make sure that you cut two pieces. So that one will fit inside of the other. Leave one side of it with all four corners. It will make it easier for assembling together.

Place the hot glue on all four corners. After you’ve applied some batting material. In the center. To help keep it’s shape. You may also use an old pillow stuffing. Hold together until the glue is set.

If using burlap as your outer choice for material,You don’t need to apply a coat. I’m using the classic Brown. Make sure not to apply it to thick. Otherwise, you will get the paper to wet. As a tip I cut extra eggshell and set inside the other. While it was drying.

I cut the burlap to form around the egg shape. Leaving about 1/4 of the top exposed. You will need to cut the pinecone at this time as well.

Make sure you have cut enough. To stack on top of each other. As you see in this photo. I suggest two or three rows.

Then you will use the twine. Going in a circular motion. Building on top of each other. Making sure to push toward the center. Otherwise, you might get more of a beehive shape. As you get to the top. Place a small stick in. Then embellish it however you choose.

As you can see in this picture. Use different materials for each acorn. One has been topped off with moss. Which I just picked up out of my yard and treated. (Spray down with alcohol. Let it dry. Then place in the oven at 250 degrees for about 20 minutes). I also used raffia to tie into a cute bow. Glue it on. I think it makes a beautiful little statement. In this centerpiece.

No one will ever know that you took trash and made it into this. As a tip you can spray the paper eggshell down with scented potpourri oils. Another option is to stuff cotton in the center of the egg that has been dipped in scented oils as well. So you may have the smells of the holidays. As guest are welcomed in your home. This is how I take the “Ordinary” and made it “Extraordinary”. I challenge you to see what you can make. From ordinary items?

This is such an amazing idea! I never would think about taking a simply egg carton and turning it into an acorn. Just by gathering a few items from around your house, you can make home decor that looks like you bought it. I will be definitely be making some acorns. Love all your ideas. Great job on your blog ???❤️
