This project is so simple and easy to change out for whatever holiday or season. Most of the items you’ll be able to find at the Dollar Tree.
* Large felt pumpkin
* Kabob stick
* Seam ripper
* Tape
* Battery operated lights
* Thumbtacks
* A wood back ground ( I used recycled wood)
* A small sign (this is optional)
* Greenery and ribbon of your choice
You will use the seam ripper to puncture a hole through the felt pumpkin. Then you will use that kabob stick to make the hole larger. The reason for this is you want to make sure that the light will be able to pop through to the front. I would suggest you pick out a pattern first. Choose how you would like to lay it out on the pumpkin. To ensure that the string is not too short or too long.
This is the back side of the felt pumpkin. As you can see I’m popping it through the hole. You will feed it all the way around the pumpkin.
This is when you will need tape. It will help hold the wire in place. If you look closely in this photo you can see it. You can also see how I chose to do my pattern.
Next step is to use the thumbtacks to hold the wire in place on the board. Make sure not to puncture a hole in the wire. As you can see in the demonstration. I put the thumbtack in between both wires.
I hid the battery pack by placing it behind the wood at the top. It is Taped it in place. I then Added a buffalo check bow. Next I added some greenery and Dollar Tree sunflowers. I also added a sign at the bottom. Next I Used thumbtacks to hold in place as well. This way if I want to change it out. It will leave very small holes to make it easier to change for whatever season I like. The wood base in the background was recycled wood that we already had and made it look like a small fence. You can also purchase something similar from Hobby Lobby. You will find it over in the wood section.
Another budget friendly idea of taking the “Ordinary” to the “Extraordinary”. A few more ideas to help you change out the look for the holidays. Just get creative. Use a felt Green Tree, Snowflake, Santa or anything that you may like. Whatever you use. Just have fun at make it your own. There is not stress in crafting. Only fun!! If you decide to give this a try. Please comment or share your photos. Would love to see what you come up with.
