You will need to cut 24 inch straps for a 12 inch rod. Another words, what ever the length of the rod is. The straps have to double in inches.
Cut the corners off the ends of straps. Makes it easier to twist around rod. To form a pumpkin. Plus it is less likely to get cut by the corner like I did.
Make sure to mark with the sharpie where you will be drilling the holes. To place on the rod. Make sure you pinch the straps together with vice grips. The straps need to be even to the edge. As you will see in the photo
The drill bit needed for this is a 7/64.
Hold even and drill where the mark is. Use a 2×4 to help keep steady. While drilling all the way through all the straps.
This is the amount of washers and nuts you will need for each end. Also, make sure you refer back to the video on how to do this.
After feeding on one nut. You will place a washer on top of that. Then feed in the straps. One at a time. When all straps are on. Then feed another washer then but. Like you see above.
It will look like this til you form it.
To form a spiral stem.Cut the copper plumber strap down the center.
Then form as a spiral on each side.
Using the same drill bit size. Drill a hold in bottom of copper fitting.
The screw down to the top of the pumpkin.
Next gluing the copper elbow onto the fitting. So that it may look like a stem.
You can also get a crimping look on the pumpkin as well. You can refer to video on a tip on how to obtain the look.
There was several styles made after this one. Will attach the videos. In case you would like to see how you can do it as well. Depending on where you get materials will drive the cost up or down. We got our from Home Depot. There will be afflicted links attached for some of the materials that can be shipped to you.
