How to convert those Christmas clearances into a Valentines Day Gift

DIY's· Uncategorized

6 Jan

I love giving gifts! With a large family or a lot of friends, that can be taxing on the wallet! Each of these items I got for a very budget friendly price! The candy canes, vanilla wafers, and hazelnut cookies were all 70 percent off from Christmas haul from Dollar General and Marshall’s. The glass cup came from Dollar Tree. I can make several of these for a couple dollars each! It is why it is one of my favorite gifts to give!

First, I placed all of the cookie treats in a clear plastic bag. I then tied it together with a twisty tie to seal it. Next, add in a package of cocoa mix.  I also through in a chocolate peppermint wooden spoon. I just love how you can see everything displayed in the glass cup.
Next, I wanted to decorate it a bit for Valentines day. I had some left over Christmas decor.

First, I put it in my clearances gift box. Above you see how it was decorated for Christmas. I will decorate it for Valentine’s Day. You can take off the tree and add hearts like I did for my husband.

To make the transformation, simply get rid of the tree and make some hearts out of whatever fabric or ribbon you have laying around. I Free handed a few hearts from felt.

Next, I glued them together in a collage.

Since this was a gift for my husband, I didn’t want it covered in glitter. Instead I opted to use a jute string to cover the glittered edges. I think its a bit more manly.

As you all know, I am a lover of buffalo check. So I had to top it off with a buffalo check bow.

Finally I finished it off with a piece of burlap ribbon and a few more hearts on the top of it.
And that’s how I repurposed my Christmas clearance items into a friendly budget Valentine gift for my loved one.

I hope you all can find a way to repurpose items you will not be using again for Christmas into something amazing for Valentines day!  Don’t forget to share your ideas with me!
