Hope, it’s a topic that some believe in and that some say is a waste of time. In addition to that, I believe in hope and my hope lives within the Lord. Christians are suppose to give our worries to the Lord. Even with that knowledge, we fall short. I want to talk about Hope and why we need to practice putting our hope in the Lord regularly.

Firstly, I want to look at a passage from Jeremiah 17:7 which states “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord.” Because the Lord is our salvation, He tells us to put our everything in him. Even knowing that, when hard times hit us, we fall short from what God tells us to do. I’ve found myself wrecked with anxiety about what the future holds and how I could ever get out of the situation I was in. After all, we are human and we all experience this. Today, I want to refresh us all on what the Lord tells us.
How to Keep Hope when Things feel hopeless
I also want to remind everyone of a verse from Psalms 65:5 which reads: “You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our Savior. You are the HOPE of everyone on Earth.” This passage is a powerful one. God has our best interests at heart and He knows how everything will unfold. What most people forget in hard times, is that He has a purpose for everything in life.
Furthermore, I want to talk about a story a dear friend of mine shared, when she was in high school one of her best friends passed away suddenly from a brain tumor. This tragedy shocked everyone, and her closest friends and family fell into a very hopeless time in their lives. What they couldn’t understand is why the Lord would take her home so young, why she wasn’t able to live a full life. Moreover, why were there no signs of the tumor? Consequently, there was a plan that the Lord had in all of that which no one was aware of.
God has a plan for everything
Hosea 2:15 says “God is the only one who can make the valley of trouble a door of hope“. As a result of this tragedy, the Lord saved two other lives. Because her death was so sudden, her mother had to quickly make a tough choice. Knowing that her daughter was a selfless and loving person, she knew she would want to help others even in death. With that, her mother donated her daughter’s organs. A little girl who was only 7 years old, received her heart which saved her life. A father with a newborn baby, received her lungs, also saving his life.
She knew she would want to help even in death
From Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Regardless of the pain everyone experienced losing the loved one, the Lord’s light shone through. He had a plan that no one could have predicted or foreseen. Through her death, a group of her friends were able to start a fundraiser for a scholarship that a graduating high school student receives every year to this day. Therefore, even in the most tragic moments, we have to take a step back. By doing that, we can start to see the bigger purpose behind our struggles. When you can’t see it, that’s when you lay your troubles to the Lord and have Hope that He will bring you through the dark.
