How to Make a Dollar Tree Santa Gnome for Under $3

DIY's· Holidays· Home Decor

23 Jul

A Dollar Tree Santa Gnome for under $3? Of course that sounds amazing, it’s a cheap craft! However, it’s not only cheap, but it’s also HUGE! Also, it’s fairly easy and quick to make. I actually recycled a large wood pumpkin piece I had from the Fall and used it as a base for this craft. Without further a due, let’s get you started with this Santa Gnome for under $3! As always, you can watch the video replay below.

Dollar Tree Santa Gnome
Firstly, here’s what you’ll need:
  • Fabric, soft and some scrap fabric
  • Mop head from the dollar tree
  • Yarn or jute string
  • Some scissors
  • Fake flowers and greenery
  • And of course, a hot glue gun

Firstly, you’ll want to loop your mop head at the length you want his beard! To make this process easier, I wrapped the mop in sections and glued them down accordingly.

Secondly, wrap your fabric around your wood pumpkin base to hide the stem. To do this, I hot glued the top and crossed the fabric in the back to secure it. Then, I took some yarn and tied the top of the Dollar Tree Santa Gnome hat. After, I used the scissors to trim around the top of where I tied the yarn to make it look like a pompom.

Thirdly, I glued some fuzzy fabric to the base of his hat. And then, I added the poinsettia flower with some greenery to the side of the hat. The Dollar Tree Santa Gnome also has his nose now glued on! He’s slowly but surely coming together.

Finally, you can add the finishing touches! Using scrap fabric, I created a mini scrap bow to attach to the pompom. I also painted his nose a skin toned color to make it look more gnome like.

In conclusion, you have a very large yet festive Dollar Tree Santa Gnome for your door or wall! He’s the perfect Christmas in July craft or just a craft for Christmas. Follow us on other social media to see more crafts like this one. We’re on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and Youtube.
