How to Make a Dollar Tree Spackling Pumpkin

DIY's· Fall· Home Decor

30 Jul

I found some spackling from the Dollar Tree, and of course I had to use it to make a spackling pumpkin. This Spackling Pumpkin is so cute, not to mention that it perfect as a shelf sitter. Personally, I’d go as far to say that it looks quite high-end, but that’s just me. I would love to tell you how I made this DIY! Let’s get into the craft. Don’t forget that you can watch the video replay below!

Also, here is what you’ll need:

  • Spackling (blue and white)
  • Marker
  • Wood pieces and stain
  • Jute string
  • Raffia

Firstly, to make this craft you’ll want to stain your wood pieces. Then, once it’s dried, you can add your spackling. Make sure you shape the spackling as a pumpkin, so in some sort of oblong shape. At first, I used a spatula to spread the spackling but then filled it in with a brush. I then, used a hair drier to make the process quicker and added the ‘lines’ of the pumpkin simultaneously.

Secondly, I added some blue spackling to the white and used an orange marker to add a little fall look to it. Next, I used the blue spackling to the outer edges of the wood piece to emphasize the blue inside the pumpkin!

Thirdly, I added my jute string stems and hot glued them to the pumpkins. Afterwards, I added a small decorative pumpkin to the side, I cut it in half to give it a 3-D appearance. To finish the spackling pumpkins, I added a raffia bow to each one.
