How to Make a Sunflower Out of a Stove Pan

Crafts· DIY's· Summer

11 Jun

Sunflowers are so beautiful. Especially during the Fall but I adore them in the Summer as well. When I was thinking about DIYs to do that I haven’t yet seen, I thought of creating a sunflower out of a stove pan! The flowers are yellow and you know what else is yellow? Lemons! So of course, I had to turn a lemon stove cover into the flower. Let me show you how I did it!

If reading tutorials aren’t for you, you can watch the video replay below!

For this DIY, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Stove cover (decorative or plain)
  • Fabric
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Stick (from the yard or outside)
  • Pipe cleaner

When I began this sunflower DIY, I had to recreate petals of some sort. Before doing this, I added a sweet gingham patterned ribbon around the circumfrence of the stove cover. Then, I could begin my petals. Therefore, I pleated the fabric that I hot glued around the pan. Moreover, the fabric I used was this beautiful golden yellow that I absolutely adore. Also, if you look close enough, the fabric actually has lemons on it.

How sweet is this lemon scrap fabric?

In order to create the pleats that made the petals, I pinched the fabric while hot gluing it to the stove cover. When you start to finish the pleats, make sure to layer over the material to create a seamless appearance.

Afterwards, I grabbed a stick from the yard. In addition to that, the stick created the stem for the flower and to secure it I hot glued fabric across it. Also, to make it more flower like, I added leaves to the areas of the stick that looks like it was branching off. Because the leaves were green felt scrap fabric that I already had, it was simple to add this. That said, it’s not required but if you wanted to add leaves too you could find any sort of green scrap fabric you may have.

Lastly, using the same ribbon that I surrounded the stove pan in, I created a small bow to hot glue to the stick. Likewise, I felt like I pulled the whole DIY together and made it look like the sweet sunflower I envisioned.
