How to Make a Thankful Hanging Sign

DIY's· Fall· Home Decor

24 Aug

Stencil crafts can be so much fun, after all, they make adding flawless images simple. This week, I created a stencil craft, but it was with Dollar tree items! Before, when shopping for this DIY, I bought a Dollar Tree sign and wall paper. Then, I used the back of the sign as the basis for this DIY and the sticky wall paper as the background. I can’t wait to show you all the step by step. Also don’t forget you can view the video replay at the link below!

Here is what you’ll need:
  • Dollar tree Sign
  • Ribbon (optional)
  • Greenery (optional)
  • Wall paper
  • Sanding block
  • Magnolia Design CO. Stencil and black paste
  • Krylon sealer

Firstly, sand the back of the dollar tree sign. You will then place the sticky wall paper face down. Then, carefully place the sign on the sticky part, being careful to line it up. Afterwards, I used the magnolia applicator to flatten it out (you can also use a credit card or ruler).

Secondly, spray a light coat of sealer onto the surface of the wall paper. Please remember to do this outside, never indoors!

Thirdly, you can place your magnolia stencil onto the wall paper. Make sure to smooth it out so the paste can seep through flawlessly. If you have never used your stencil, make sure to de-fuzz it first. Lastly, you can peel back your finished stencil craft print.

Finally, you have your completed stencil craft. As you can see, I added a bow, some greenery and the ribbon used to hang it up. I attached all these using hot glue, but as stated this is optional.

I hope you loved this stencil craft, also known as the thankful hanging sign. You can shop this stencil and more by clicking here. Also, check out the blog for more like this and follow us on our other social medias by clicking the icons on the side.
