HOW TO TREAT MOSS ON A BUDGET: Return To Blog

Anyone who follows DIY Designs by Talisa Lindsay knows that I love my moss! I live in Florida and it grows naturally right outside my front door.

Moss is amazing and can be used for a huge variety of things. Before you use it, you must treat and dry it.  Below is a definitive guide on how to make that happen!

First, you are going to want to find and collect your moss. If you live in a coastal region, just go outside and pluck it gently from any tree!

Next you are going to want to lay it out on a cookie sheet. Get yourself some rubbing alcohol and a spray bottle.

Spray the moss all over. Make sure to lift it up and get in between the layers. Then Flipe it over and do the backside. The purposes of spraying the alcohol is to make sure any bugs or critters climb out before we take it in the house. For this reason, after we spray, we are going to leave it outside to dry for a bit.

Once your moss has had a chance to dry, take it inside.

Place some parchment paper on a cookie sheet and place your moss on it. We don’t want the moss sticking to the cookie sheet!

Set your oven temp to 220 degrees. We want a low slow temp to help dry out the moss without “cooking” it.

Leave your moss in the oven for about 30 mins to an hour (depending on how much moss you are drying).

Take it out and let it cool. Then your moss is ready to use! That is How To Treat Moss on a budget!

I am so glad you joined me for this quick and easy DIY!
