As Thanksgiving approaches this year. I have a lot to be thankful for. In less than a months time. We had three family members in the hospital all on the same day. What’s the odds of that. All three of them in for different reasons. My mother-in-law had unexplained bleeding that they couldn’t figure out,my brother-in-law was having a tumor removed from his pituitary gland and my next to the oldest daughter was in danger with her pregnancy. In her 3rd trimester. Unfortunately, they found colon cancer as the reason for my mother-in-laws bleeding. As for my brother-in-law he is recovering great. With no sign of cancer. My daughter had to deliver the baby early to get her blood pressure down from toxemia. She was doing great til about a week ago. When she had complications. Her uterus stop contracting. Causing her to hemorrhage and bleed out. Thankfully the doctors was able to stabilize her and do surgery. To repair the problem. I felt I needed to give you a small glance. Into each situation. So, you can see the reason. Why I’m so extra thankful this year. You only read about events like these. The chances of them happened to your family all in one day. Is like winning the lottery. Which would have been a much better day than this. I personally wanted to break down and cry all day. But knew that would not help them in any way. So, instead I cried to my Lord. Knowing he had them all. I just had to put into practice to trust him for the out come. Which gave me a much bigger peace. With each hospital visit. Using the opportunity to pray over each one of them. Knowing that day. I was not sure of what Thanksgiving would look like for us this year. Hoping each one of them would be here, but not sure. Immediately,my perspective of Thanksgiving change this year. It went from dreading all the preparation of all i would have to do. To I need to make this the best Thanksgiving I can. For we are not promised tomorrow. Only for today. Making sure I make this about spending the best of time together. Even if there is messes, spills, annoying family members, and dreadful clean up. I would regret far more not having them around. Than all the work, chaos and chores. That comes with planning for the holidays. Unfortunately, my mother in law will not be able to leave the hospital for Thanksgiving. That meant I had to get clever and creative. On how I was going to bring Thanksgiving to her and make her apart of this day as well. So, this is what I came up with. Pack a bag full of things. I know she loves to do. *Playing cards *Crocheting kit *Crossword *Word Games *Chapstick *Lotion *Baby wipes *Dry shampoo *Warm house slippers *Special notes left inside her books, shoes, and bags. Just to let her know we love her and thinking of her. *Thanksgiving dinner *Place setting for one
The place setting I came up with is something I love and put a lot of thought into. I didn’t have to break the bank for it either.
If you don’t all know . I love black and white. Buffalo check is even better. So, I had some extra placemats and napkins. For when mine are to stained and need to replaced.Dediced that would be the first decor items I would pull ideas from. Along with left over craft items I did not use. Almost everything came from the Dollar Tree.
As you can see I have small wood pumpkins, leaves, raffia, oranges lace pumpkin, plastic silver glass, black and white straw, Harvest word and a thankful wood sign (handmade from napkin and assorted fabric)
Moved the Harvest sign to the corner angled. Toward the silver plastic glass. I felt it was simple, colorful, personable and lovely.
It may not be for everybody. However, I love the colors. It was done under $5 and with alot of love and thought. So, to me it really is priceless.
Besides the one thing that is sticking with me this Thanksgiving is to do everything with love and praise. To love those he has given you.
Psalms 95:2Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
Psalms 107:1
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus
1 Corinthians 16:14
Let all that you do be done in Love.
This might be a table setting for one. But there is always a table setting waiting for your loved ones! No matter the location. Even ,if you have to bring it to their bedside. Just make sure it’s there.
Love a stranger this holiday season, do something extra to show you care, sacrifice your time for someone who is alone. Invite them into your home. Forgive that person who has hurt you. a Extend grace, mercy and love to them. Even if it’s not deserved. Just watch what God can do. When your heart is in the right place. Please share with me your table settings. How you will spend your Thanksgiving? Or even if you need prayer over a family matter. May you be inspired by this somehow and if you are. Please leave me a comment. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your family ❤️
Talisa,
Keeping you and your family in Prayer.
You are so right, we could break down and cry, but God is in Control, so you have to give it all to Him, place it all in His Hands and give your tears to Him.
Love your Thanksgiving designs!
Thank you, because since I’ve found your site, I’ve done something I gave up years ago . . . Crafting and having so much Fun!
Much Love and many Blessings,
Tina
Talisa this is so very very beautiful. Priceless !! God has given you such a good heart ❤️ Have you heard this song before ? I dedicate it to you and it’s my song to my kids and my grandchildren. Your Momma sure must be proud of you.
Now I have a prayer request for myself. I feel selfish because so many need prayers and here I am asking for myself. But our God says to pray. I found a knot on my neck and after ultrasound it’s showing it to be 3.5 by 5 and on my thyroid. It may or may not be cancer. App. 12/9.
I will believe that God will see you through this and be praying for you. I don’t know if this will bring any comfort to you. But I also have a lump in my thyroid a few years ago. It turned out that I had to start taking thyroid medication to get rid of it. Hoping for the best for you. Look up to the one who can change it.
Such a lovely and thoughtful gift for your mother in law. God has a way of answering prayers! Blessings to you and your family as Thanksgiving and the holidays approaches.
Perfect and so thoughtful! She will feel a part of things even while at the hospital
