Ordinary To Extraordinary Spring DIY

DIY's· Uncategorized

17 Feb

This week I really wanted to make something for Easter, and this fun Spring DIY is perfect for that! I had lots of crafting items around my home, so I just used what I already had. If you would like to make something like this, most of the items I use come from the Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby!

For this Spring DIY I used:

  • Scrap materials
  • Glue gun
  • Burlap
  • Ribbon
  • Lace
  • Greenery for leaf branches
  • Wire cutters
  • Pillow stuffing
  • Baskets
  • Styrofoam
  • Scissors
  • Moss
  • Thick jute rope

Let’s get started!

First, we are going to add some styrofoam to a basket.

Next I use my  to cover the foam and act as a filler.

Then I want to make a carrot or two like the ones from Pier One. They are expensive and I thought I would just make my own!

You will use a glue stick for the base of the carrot. Start by wrapping your jute around the top of the glue stick. Make sure to attach it with a dab of glue.To hold in place.
Just continue to wrap the jute all the way around the carrott until you have reached the bottom. Then secure with glue.
I went back and added a second layer to this Spring DIY carrot to give it more of a thicker look at the top.
During your second run, go up slightly higher than your glue stick. This will leave a small hole. That is where we will place our greenery.
Add some glue to the bottom of your greenery and secure into the hole in the top.  Viola! You have an adorable carrot that rivals pier one’s for a fraction of the cost!
If you  would like some variety like I did, look around your home to find something cone shaped.
I had this one and it was the perfect shape. Next wrap it up in burlap loosely!
Glue down the edge so that it will hold its shape. Then remove the cone shaped object.
Use pillow stuffing to keep its shape. If you don’t have stuffing, use what you have on hand. Old book pages, paper, or tissue. Just a list of few items that come to mind.
I used old scraps and pulled to make as a ruffle. Glued down to the top edge. Being careful to leave a small opening for the leaves.
I had to add a little lace in there. You know that is my statement and trademark for DIY Designs by Talisa Lindsay.
The second one I made. I added lace to the top with a buffalo check bow.

Here is my final Spring DIY makeover!
