Why It’s Important to Go to Church

Christian· DIY's

I hear all the time that “I don’t have to go to church to be a christian”. And while that is true, only to an extent. As Christians, we are called to spread the gospel, to love, and have a relationship with Jesus. Of course, we can do this outside of the church, because in a way we are the church. However, it’s still important to go to church, and that’s my main point today.

Why its important to go to church

First, let me start by asking you this, would you remain friends with someone you never have over your home or vice versa? Your answer is more than likely no. Why is that? Because to maintain a friendship, and a close one at that, you make time for each other. Now, you may be saying, “but Talisa, spending time with someone doesn’t mean we have to go to each other’s homes.” You would have a point, so let me ask you this, would you allow someone into your home that you don’t know? The answer to that is more than likely a definite no, so why do we expect God to just allow us into heaven if we never make time to know Him or visit His home on Earth (i.e. the church)?

Would you let someone into your home that you don’t know?

Then, with that answered let me bring some scripture into this topic. Psalm 150:1-6 states, “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! …” In addition to that, let’s focus on one part of that scripture, “Praise God in his sanctuary”. If we can embody the church then what do you think it means when it says sanctuary? More than likely the physical temple or building in which we all gather to praise our God, i.e. church.

To conclude, we can praise God and have a relationship with him outside of the physical church. However, we need to make sure we are making time to physically attend church on Sundays, or other days your church offers services. There is something mighty powerful about being in an atmosphere worshipping our Lord, and we all need to experience and have that.

Yes, amen. Right now it’s hard to attend church physically because of the rise in Covid cases again. Thankfully we can watch the livestreams.
